Analysis of Affordable Housing Supply Created by Unilateral National Housing Strategy Programs
Improving the National Housing Strategy (NHS) is one of the 3 priority areas for 2021-22. The Council commissioned Blueprint ADE and the Wellesley Institute to conduct research that analyzes the National Housing Strategy and publish findings in a report.
The report is titled “Analysis of Affordable Housing Supply Created by Unilateral National Housing Strategy Programs.
The report examines the 3 major unilateral initiatives under the NHS:
- The Rental Construction Financing Initiative
The National Housing Co-Investment Fund
The Rapid Housing Initiative
Next steps include engagement with subject matter experts, stakeholders and people who have or are currently experiencing housing need and/or homelessness to identify ways of improving the NHS. This is expected to take place this spring. A final report with recommendations to the Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion will follow this summer.
