Dennis Walker on Rural Internet Radio

Canadian media is becoming increasingly concentrated. A relatively small number of companies control most of Canada’s airwaves. This means most small rural communities lack the meaningful local news and information small-town newspapers and radio stations used to provide.

The advent of new & emerging technologies now makes it possible for that to change. It’s possible today to establish web-based programming that provides rural listeners and viewers with access to content that really matters to them.

A good example is the soon-to-launch, Internet-based South Okanagan Country Radio — based in Cranbrook! Long-time southern interior radio broadcaster Dennis Walker talks about what led to this exciting new rural info initiative, its prospects, and what the future may hold in store in this BC Rural Centre podcast.
